After the conclusion of the UEFA Nations League during this weeks International Break, Fantasy Premier League returns for Gameweek 13. This article will run through options at both ends of the pitch, to hopefully return a bunch of attacking and defending points to help you shoot up your mini-league. This is our FPL gameweek 13 preview!
FPL gameweek 13 preview – attacking Potential
Everton vs Cardiff
Everton, who put in an impressive performance to draw with Chelsea before the international break, take on Cardiff, who have only kept 2 clean sheets so far this season.
Everton’s star of the season so far Richarlison has seemed to be playing in a much more central role after his move to Goodison Park, where Everton are yet to not score this season and so the Toffees look an exciting option for GW13. Richarlison, who has scored 6 so far this season and Gylfi Sigurdsson, who has scored 9 this season whilst assisting on 2 occasions, look to have great attacking potential against Cardiff. Everton also face Newcastle and Watford at home after a meeting with Liverpool, adding to Everton’s attacking potential for the next few weeks.
West Ham vs Manchester City
Last seasons champions who have been banging in the goals recently take on West Ham, who haven’t kept a clean sheet in their last 6 games, including conceding to both Burnley and Huddersfield, who have struggled finding the net this year so far.
City have scored an incredible 15 goals in their last 4 games, including 3 against their Manchester rivals just before the international break. Guardiola’s team look almost certain to find the net in every game they play, and with West Ham being leaky at the back over the past few weeks, it would be hard to look past Aguero, who has scored 80 points this years so far and Raheem Sterling who has bagged 7 goals, as well as 5 assists so far this season. City also have meetings with Bournemouth and Watford in the following weeks so City attackers look a must have.
FPL gameweek 13 preview – Defensive Potential
Watford vs Liverpool
Liverpool have kept 7 clean sheets so far this season, the most of all the teams in the top flight, and with a game against Watford, who impressed in the opening weeks of the season but who have seemed to fade over the last couple of weeks, failing to beat both Newcastle and Southampton in their last 2 games. The fact is over the last few months Klopp’s side has gone from having one of the worst defences in the top six to one of the finest in the division.
Robertson, one of Liverpool’s greatest creators this year has picked up 3 assists as well as constantly darting up the wing, moving around his side. This, combined with the fact that he is likely to pick up lots of CS points make him a must have. A slightly cheaper option is Trent Alexander-Arnold who is having a breakthrough season in Liverpool’s back line. After taking on Watford, Liverpool face Everton and Burnley, who they will be looking to keep clean sheets against.
Wolves vs Huddersfield
One last team which might be worth investing in defensively is Wolves. Taking a well earned point from the Emirates in their last game. Wolves take on Huddersfield who have scored just twice in their last 4 games.
Against Arsenal, Wolves defended well against the likes of Lacazette, Özil and Aubameyang so a clash against Huddersfield shouldn’t scare them. Despite earning claiming their first win of the season against Fulham in GW11, Huddersfield don’t have a solid source of goals to rely on, and so a defensive investment in Wolves would be a smart move. Matt Doherty and budget man Ryan Bennett could be key players, both within budget. Doherty has already scored one and assisted two this season, as well as picking up 9 FPL bonus points.
