FPL Gameweek 22 tips are based on our FPL FDR tool. Any xG values mentioned in this article are from the official FPL stats. Note that xGI per 90 minutes means expected goal involvements per 90 minutes, calculated by adding expected goals and assists.

We’ll go through the captain selection, and then we’ll give you our take on the top 50 best FPL players: should you buy, hold, or sell this player.

FPL Gameweek 22 tips for Captain selection

The FPL gameweek 22 captain selection is straightforward: Erling Haaland. He will be captained by most of the top managers and is expected to score the most points. Haaland is facing the Manchester United defense, which does not look strong.

I’m not worried about recent blanks, either. Haaland has 2.62 xGI from the previous four matches with just one goal to show for it. He’ll start scoring more in no time.

Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz are the only other real candidates this week. In fact, Liverpool is expected to score the most points according to our algorithm. However, they are not very reliable picks. Ekitike has been injured, and Cody Gakpo is now threatening to take minutes from both players.

I would only gamble with Ekitike or Wirtz if you are far down in ranks and want to take a punt here.

#	Player	Rating	Explanation
1	Haaland	✅ ➖	Haaland is still the best FPL asset. No reason to consider selling him.
2	Rice	✅ ➖	Arsenal have good fixtures coming up. Rice offers great value, and should be at the top of your shopping list.
3	Thiago	❌➖	Thiago is in great form, but his fixtures are turning sour. Starting with a tricky Chelsea away match. He's fine to hold if you have more important transfers, but it doesn't look good for goals.
4	Semenyo	❌➖	Semenyo has joined Man City, where his minutes are on risk. It's ok to hold him if you believe he'll replace one of the regulars, but I doubt it.
5	Bruno G	➖	Bruno is a fine hold but I wouldn't purchase him. He has overachieved wildly, and the fixture run is not great. Newcastle will be also busy with cup matches.
6	Gabriel	✅ ➖	Gabriel is the number one defender to have in FPL, there is no question about it. Arsenal is also expected to have the most clean sheets in the next six gameweeks.
7	B.Fernandes	➖	Bruno has returned from injury. He's a fine hold if you have him, but I wouldn't buy him before two difficult fixtures. GW 24 is the best entry point.
8	Guehi	➖	I'd hold Guehi because Palace has good CS potential on paper. However, they will be busy again because of cups, and this has clearly hurt Palace's defense in past weeks/months. I'd rather go for Chelsea and Sunderland defenders.
9	Timber	✅ ➖❌	Timber is a decent pick, and he's been unlucky not to get attacking returns. With this said, it's also ok to sell him for Gabriel and fill your defense with more cheaper players.
10	Chalobah	✅ ➖	Chalobah is a good pick from Chelsea defense in the long run. Chelsea is ranked highest after Arsenal for clean sheets in our FPL FDR tool.
11	Wilson	✅ ➖	Fulham have 4 pretty decent fixtures now starting with Leeds away. Wilson is in great form and still cheap. He'd be a good pick for 4 GWs, at least.
12	Rogers	✅ ➖	Rogers is a fine purchase. Villa's expected goals are the 2nd highest after Man City. Rogers plays about 90 minutes in every match - even after eurocups.
13	Tarkowski	➖	Not a good entry point for Tarkowski: Villa away next, and 3 out of 4 matches are away. He's a fine pick for the long run, but don't buy him here if you don't have him. You can even consider benching him this week if you have Arsenal, Chelsea, and Sunderland defenders.
14	Foden	➖	I wouldn't buy Foden now, but no need to sell him, either. The best plan is to hold him for Man United and Wolves, which are great fixtures. If he still keeps blanking we can start to consider selling.
15	Saka	❌➖	Rice looks like a better option when price / points are considered. I wouldn't buy Saka, but there is no need to panic-sell him, either. Just consider moving to Rice if you have extra transfers. You can use these funds to upgrade some mid-priced midfielder to Bruno Fernandes soon.
16	Lacroix	❌➖	It's ok to hold Lacroix for the Sunderland match, but he looks like a sell in the long run. Palace defense has fallen apart in the past months, and they will be busy with euro matches again. There are better defenders available in his price category.
17	Keane	❌➖	Suspended for two league matches. Either sell him or bench him if you have cover.
18	Garner	✅ ➖	A great enabler on midfield. Decent xGI vs. his price, and gets also DCs. KDH is better value, but he's currently injured.
19	Ruben Dias	❌	Long-term injured. Sell him.
20	Roefs	✅ ➖	Roefs is a fine option if you want a cheap goalkeeper. Fixtures look good going forward.
21	Gravenberch	➖	Gravenberch has overperformed massively all season. He's fine to hold vs. BUR and BOU, but I'd consider selling him after that for Rice, Rogers, or Enzo.
22	Matheus Nunes	✅ ➖	A great option from City's defense at 5.5m. He gets DCs too, unlike O'Reilly.
23	Enzo	✅ ➖	Chelea's fixture start to improve now and Enzo looks like the best value pick from Chelsea's midfield. Cole Palmer is not fully fit yet despite playing quite a lot recently.
24	Mukiele	✅ ➖	Great pick as your 5th defender. Sunderland have good fixtures, and his starting XI place seems secure.
25	Pickford	✅ ➖	He's a great long-term option on goal if you don't want Roefs or Raya. GW 22 is not a great entry point, though. I'd wait one week before buying him.
26	Bowen	❌	Bowen is a sell. West Ham looks so bad, and their fixtures don't promise much, either. West Ham will even lose Paqueta now, which makes the team generally weaker in attack.
27	Collins	❌	Fixtures are poor for clean sheets. You can bench him vs. Chelsea and start vs. Nottingham, but not a bad idea to sell already now.
28	Munoz	➖	Hold him if you have him, because the comeback from injury is getting closer. Don't buy Munoz until he has started a game, first.
29	Calvert-Levin	➖❌	He's fine to start vs. Fulham, but fixtures are really tough after that. Either hold (= bench) or sell him for a cheaper enabler, like Kroupi or Mane.
30	Van der Ven	➖	You obviously hold him for West Ham & Burnley, but that's pretty much it. In general, Spurs defense is just too poor, so I wouldn't consider buying him.
31	Senesi	❌	Bournemouth fixtures are really poor for clean sheets. Sell.
32	Neto	➖	Neto is a bit forgotten player in FPL. Chelsea's fixtures turn now and his underlying data looks good with 0.43 xGI per 90. I'd be a bit careful because of the new manager, though. Does he keeps his place? Enzo is a safer pick.
33	Xhaka	✅ ➖	A solid option for 5th midfielder (mostly on bench).
34	Cash	✅ ➖	Cash is a decent pick with Everton & Brentford at home in the next three. In the long run, I don't like him too much because of few DCs.
35	Stach	➖❌	Stach is an ok option to sit on your bench as 5th midfielder. No need to panic sell, but I wouldn't buy him. There're better options available for a cheap enabler.
36	Casemiro	➖	He is a decent enabler at 5.5m. Casemiro has also 0.32 xGI per 90, which is not bad at all for a defensive midfielder who also gets DCs very often. He's very likely going to get DCs vs Man City and Arsenal, so it's not that bad an entry like it is for Bruno (who relies more on attacking returns).
37	Anderson	➖❌	Fine to hold as 5th midfielder on the bench. If you plan on playing him reguarly, sell him. Nottingham's expected goals are so low you are not going to get any attacking returns.
38	Raya	➖❌	He's fine to hold and one of the best GKs, but it feels like you can build a better team with a cheaper GK. I like Gabriel + Timber more than Gabriel + Saka. Roefs and Pickford (and Sanchez) are great options.
39	Tavernier	➖	Bournemouth fixtures are not good, and Semenyo will be gone as well (with Kluivert injured). He might have pens, though. A cheap enabler, but I'd rather have one of the DC monsters instead (like Garner).
40	Schade	❌	I'd sell Schade because of the poor fixture run. There are better alternatives at this price point, such as Rice, and Enzo.
41	Joao Pedro	❌➖	JP is not worth buying despite Chelsea's good fixtures. His minutes are not good, and his underlying data has been weak all season. No need to panic-sell him but I'd much rather own other Chelsea players.
42	Mitchell	❌➖	I wouldn't buy any Palace defenders now, as mentioned above. He's fine to hold as 5th or 4th defender where you mostly use him as a back up.
43	Aaronson	❌➖	Leeds have a bad fixture run coming up. Definitely not a buy. You can bench him and use as the 5th midfielder, but I'd rather move into other options.
44	Ekitike	✅ ➖	Ekitike should be fit. Hold him if you have him. In theory, three very potential matches coming up, but it's risky buying a player who has been injured! This is for managers with a poor rank.
45	James	➖	I wouldn't buy James until we have seen Rosenior's starting XIs in more matches. James might lose his place in the midfield.
46	Watkins	➖	I would much rather own Morgan Rogers. Watkins is so expensive and he is being rotated in every match. He's fine to hold if you have bought him because of the fixture run, but I wouldn't buy this player. More UCL games are coming up, too.
47	Kelleher	❌➖	I'd sell him if he's your first-choice GK. Brentford's fixture run is so poor, and you can get GKs like Roefs.
48	Gibbs-White	❌	A horrible fixture against Arsenal, and not many better ones in the near future. I wouldn't own any Forest players.
49	Trossard	❌➖	He's such a rotation risk now with players like Odegaard back in action. No need to own Trossard when you can have Rice.
50	Mateta	❌➖	He's not worth the money spent. Palace fixtures have potential for clean sheets, but not for goals.
