The Fantasy Premier League gameweek 23 includes easy fixtures for the top three teams – it’s unlikely we’ll see any drama in the title race. The highlight of the weekend will be Arsenal vs Chelsea match on Saturday evening. Here are our FPL GW 23 tips.
FPL GW 23 tips – attacking potential
Manchester United are in fantastic form under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Red Devils have won all five Premier League matches and one FA Cup fixture with him. Last round United defeated Spurs in a tough away fixture 0-1.
United fixtures have been easy lately (besides the Spurs match of course) and they continue favourable. Coming up in the next four gameweeks: Brighton, Burnley and Fulham. Paul Pogba has 4 goals and 5 assists in the five PL matches under Solskjaer! Marcus Rashford has 4 goals and 2 assists. This duo should be in your team right now.
Southampton is also a re-born team after a managerial change was done. Saints are 3-2-3 (W-D-L) since the Austrian manager Ralph Hassenhuttl took over. This period includes also matches against Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City and in-form West Ham.
The biggest change has been in the scoring capacity. Southampton used to have massive problems with turning chances into goals. With Hassenhuttl, they’ve scored 12 goals in the previous 6 matches including some tough opponents.
Southampton fixtures are favourable: Everton, Crystal Palace and Cardiff at home in the next four gameweeks. The only away match is against weak Burnley.
Nathan Redmond (in the picture) has 4 goals and 2 assists from the previous seven matches. He scored a brace in FA Cup two weeks ago when Saints met Derby. Shane Long seems to have taken then number one attacker spot. He scored one and assisted the other goal week ago against Leicester.
FPL GW 23 tips – clean sheet potential
Liverpool defense has been rock solid all season. It’s no surprise they defeated Brighton 0-1 at GW 22. It’s always difficult to decide between Liverpool forwards and defenders, but now you might really want to look at the back four.
The January fixtures look especially favourable for Liverpool clean sheets: Crystal Palace, Leicester and Bournemouth at home in the next four gameweeks. You can expect a clean sheet with 67-73% probability in each match. I’d rather have a Liverpool defender than Mane or Firmino.
With Lovren and Matip injured, there isn’t risk of rotation either. Be careful with TAA, who is uncertain due to a foot injury.
Wolves had a tough match against Manchester City at Monday with 10 vs 11 players. Will Boly was sent out after 19 minutes making it impossible for Wolves to grind a result. Fixture list promises much better for the next gameweeeks, though.
Wolves meet Leicester at home in the upcoming round. Foxes aren’t at their best right now and Wolves have a nice 41% clean sheet shot. They have three nice home fixtures in the next four rounds against Leicester, West Ham and Newcastle with Huddersfield looming at GW 28.
Full-back Matt Doherty (in the picture) has been a fantastic pick all season. He has provided 2 goals and 2 assists in the previous 10 matches. Only 7 defenders have more FPL points than Doherty. You should also consider Rui Particio on goal, who has more FPL points per game than the rest of the defence line.
